Hog Wild at Amada
My (almost) two-week hiatus with nothing new to write about came to a screeching halt Monday night in Old City. The setting was a dark wood-paneled, private room in the farthest corner of what has now become a Philly dining institution, and the flagship restaurant of our favorite Iron Chef. The swine sculpture that greeted us at the front door was symbolic; Amada’s Cochinillo Asado or, roasted suckling pig, was on the dinner agenda. Read more…
Sabrina’s Cafe
Sabrina’s. I love this Philadelphia brunch mecca as much as the next person, although I rarely indulge myself because I am simply not willing to wait in the hour-plus queue on weekends. When a late afternoon business trip provided me with a rare weekday morning to do whatever I pleased, it was without hesitation that I made my way to the Italian Market. Read more…
Fat Salmon
Once every month or two, I get together with three of the most magnificent women I know for what has been dubbed, “BYO Girls’ Night.” The establishment chosen for last night’s rendezvous was Fat Salmon. Initially, I wasn’t thrilled based on the fact that so many of the menu items included fake crabmeat (AKA, krab). Because we ate and drank our way through the trip, I’ll be writing just a few sentences on each place we visited in a two-part post. Read more…
Renaissance Sausage at Headhouse Farmers’ Market
Walking through Headhouse Farmers’ Market on Sunday morning, I admired all of the beautiful, locally grown produce that surrounded the aisle. Unfortunately, as the blog title suggests, I don’t spend much of my time in an apron. Happily, prepared foods are also abundant at Headhouse Farmers’ Market, and a girl like yours truly can feast without so much as boiling a pot of water.

Travel: Quahog’s Seafood Shack
When tummies started rumbling while walking around Stone Harbor on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, my quick-thinking companion knew exactly where to go. Quahog’s, an adorably rustic seafood shack owned by Chef Lucas Manteca of Philly’s Hoof & Fin, was just around the corner.
Mikado
Mikado’s Cherry Hill location has undergone some major renovations in recent months. The business was closed for quite a while, and I looked forward to revisiting the restaurant, which went from shabby to chic; at least, from what I could see on the outside. Read more…
